Environmental Innovation Award

The Environment Innovation Award has been developed for exhibitors of Road Expo Ireland, Civilex and Resource Ireland and is designed to reward and highlight new, innovative environmental products and services.

The winner and runner-up will be selected by a panel of industry experts, while the visitors will identify the ‘Visitor’s Vote’ winner.

Judging will take place during show opening times and the winner will be announced in the afternoon of Thursday, 14 October 2010 at Resource Ireland.

Watertight International Flood Defence System

Watertight International is the only fully comprehensive flood
protection system that covers all aspects of property flooding
and provides peace of mind by enabling flood insurance cover.

No other flood protection system protects from flood damage via drains (some estimates suggest up to 50% of all damage is caused this way), walls, airbricks, doors and windows. Fully demountable, the flood protection is invisible when not in use (hopefully most of the time!).

Watertight products have UK and Europe wide patents, were
the first to achieve the Kitemark for BS PAS 1188 2009, and are manufactured using up to 95% recycled materials.

The production process in Switzerland uses 100% green-energy and is therfore CO2 NEUTRAL.

URIMAT bowls are made from a high-tech polycarbonate blend (makrolon) ensuring break resistance and making the urinals vandalism-proof.

URIMAT is the only waterless urinal which can generate revenue via the integrated advertising display.

HSR Hot Water Recycle Valve - Riva Global

The HSR Valve is installed in the water pipe leading to the hot tap. When the hot tap is opened, if the water has been standing in the pipe work and allowed to cool down, instead of it going down the drain, which is usually the case, the HSR Valve diverts it either back into the supply line for the hot tank or into a secondary grey water tank for use elsewhere.

Only when the water has reached operating temperature is it allowed to come out of the tap.

This saves between 40,000 and 90,000 litres of water a year in a typical home. Larger facilities will save much more.

There is nothing else on the market that can do this!

Smart Waterless Urinal - Smart Energy Systems Ltd

We have recently launched a new retrofit waterless urinal to the Irish Market. What makes it innovative is that it works with the existing urinal bowls that are already in place and has the ability to save over 100,000 litres of drinking water per bowl per year. Competitor’s products require the old bowls to be removed and replaced with expensive replacements that require re-plumbing.
Our new system can be retrofitted into any existing urinal bowl; therefore eliminating all the unnecessary installation costs. It’s as simple as removing the existing insert and trap, replacing it with the waterless adaptor and valve and turning of the water. No removing bowls, no lifting, no mess, and above all less costs.

The patented Smart Waterless Urinal System was developed for use in waterless urinals. It replaces water with technology. The membrane in the Valve works according to the Bernoulli principle: the cohesive forces of the membrane made of a special surface and a suitable mix of materials are so strong after wetting that the two lips close airtight. When used, the valve only opens in the direction of the drain. The Smart Waterless Urinal System replaces flushing water and sealing liquids entirely.

Tensar TriAx (a revolution in geogrid technology) - Tensar International Ltd

Unlike conventional geogrids, which comprise of square or rectangular apertures, the TriAxÔ geogrid boasts a unique triangular structure resulting in a multitude of performance benefits and has already been used in a number of civil engineering projects across the world.
TriAx helps aid the current environmental effort by enabling a reduction in aggregate layer thickness and increased pavement life. Using a TriAx mechanically stabilised layer in a road or working area can give savings in granular thickness of up to 50% with no performance loss. This means that a project can run more efficiently, as less excavated material needs to be taken away from site and less aggregate needs to be imported, placed and compacted. By reducing vehicle movements and the volume of material to be removed from the site, considerable savings of up to 50% can be made in construction CO2 emissions when compared with an unreinforced design and thereby reducing ecological impact.

LED Conversion Tray - Ritherdon

Based on an exciting, local invention the Ritherdon LED Conversion Tray combines the energy-saving benefits of LED streetlighting(including improvements in LED light quality) with the added cost and environmental benefits of using existing lanterns.

Radically different to other LED lights, the LEDs themselves do not shine directly out of the luminaire. Their light is diffused through a transparent rod before controlled reflection outwards. This means that there is no dazzling glare from the individual LEDs, making the product particularly suitable for streetlighting.

Landia Gas mixing system

Landia Gas mixing system has been developed using over twenty five years of aeration experience and is specifically for sedimentation and crust prevention within anaerobic digesters. The system is used in conjunction with the unique Landia chopper pump, actually the first ever chopper pump developed in 1950. The system draws the liquid medium through the pump which ensure that particles are chopped as small as possible, this the passes through a compression chamber and venture type self entraining nozzle, it is within this chamber where the two mediums are compressed together and then ejected at high velocity back in to the tank. The angle and height of the ejector nozzle is crucial to the performance of the system but we have twenty five years of experience with these positions and over thirty five years of mixer technology.
Benefits/advantages. No crust or sedimentation, very limited operational time, less than one third of the installed power. Complete mixing of the whole tank, grit suspension and most of which is FREE as we barrow the gas from the top of the tank.

NEW LAUNCH of the Gutermann Trunk Main Correlator

The Aquascan TM has been specifically designed to accurately correlate leak positions on large diameter pipes. Leak noise propagates at lower frequencies and lower volumes on large diameter pipes, so special low frequency accelerometer sensors have been developed to detect this quieter leak noise at a low frequency.

JFC GRAF Rainwater Harvesting System

The latest addition to the JFC range of products is the Graf Rainwater Harvesting range. The products are used for the collection of rain from the roof of a domestic dewlling. The water is then filtered and stored in an underground storage tank.

The filtered water stored in the underground tank(s) is pumped back into the house and reused for flushing toilets and washing clothes. If during periods of dry weather the tank empties an auotmatic mains backup is activated until the tank again begins to fill with rainwater.

The tank splits in two with each half stacking on top of each other, all the components are then placed in the top half for transportation. This provides an 70% reduction in the transportation costs for a truck load of tanks when compared with conventional tanks.

The Stormbreaker is a new Irish designed and manufactured stormwater attenuation/infiltration system that combines many innovative features to yield a class leading product. The Stormbreaker possesses the highest crush strength in its class, arched rib design for increased load bearing and interlocking assembly, which endows the Stormbreaker with market leading strength per m3. Indeed, it possesses a 97% void, which provides superior buffering capacity. It can be pre-assembled in up to 10m3 stacks eliminating the need for specialist contractors, resulting in substantially quicker installation and reduced cost. Moreover, the Stormbreaker can be transported in 50% less space due to its unique interwoven stacking ability. Finally, full Agrement certification for the Stormbreaker is currently pending.
